The Department of Accountancy is proud to announce that beginning school year 2007–2008 the department will be offering four new programs in Accountancy. These are Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology (BSAT), Master of Accountancy–major in Internal Audit (MA–IA), Master of Accountancy–major in Taxation (MA–T), and Master of Management Accounting (MMA).Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology (BSAT) is a three and a half year program with a total of 212 units. The program follows a global accountancy curriculum which is heavily computer-based. The graduates will be employed in the fast growing BPO industry and qualified to take the international examination for Certified Accounting Technologist (CAT).
Master of Accountancy majors in Internal Audit and Taxation (MA–IA and MA–T) and Master of Management Accounting (MMA) are non-thesis programs with a total of 45 units each. These programs are targeted to accounting professionals who do not want to take up a thesis but want to develop their accounting skills and knowledge. Admission to these non-thesis programs requires an undergraduate degree in Accounting (BSA), Management Accounting (BSMA) or Commerce (BSC).
The MA-IA program is directed at practicing Internal Audit Professionals who wish to upgrade and/or focus their auditing skill. It is an application oriented program based on Internal Audit Standards which includes case studies on current internal auditing practices and understanding of internal audit issues, risks and remedies. It offers a strong focus on corporate governance and risk issues, exhibiting alignment with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ (IIA’s) IIA's Professional Practices Framework and Certified Internal Auditor’s (CIA) Examination.
The MMA program is application based and includes case studies to enhance broad business competency and mastery of the management-level skills required to add value, drive business performance, and build quality financial practices within organizations. The program prepares the students in areas essential to analyzing, managing and evaluating business solutions that contribute to the success of an organization. It is aligned with the CMA credential that indicates a commitment to excellence based on a strong, ethical foundation and dedication to lifelong learning.
The MA-T program includes applications of national and international taxation systems in cases and actual studies. In line with the University’s trust on lifelong learning, the program is targeted to municipal, city, provincial, and government agencies accountants, BIR personnel, and tax consultants.
