usc-business resource centerThe Business Resource Center (BRC) of the University of San Carlos is an extension unit of the College of Commerce, which aims to work closely with the business community, particularly in the area of developing small and medium enterprises.

The Center’s ultimate goal is to prepare individuals for employment and assist entrepreneurs develop businesses, thereby helping create a healthy business environment in the communities that it serves.

In achieving its objectives, the Center offers training, short courses, business research, consultancy services, and linkages with the business community.

It forges activity and program tie-ups with other academic institutions (academe-academe); private enterprises (academe-industry); government agencies (academe-government); and the community at large (academe-community).

Graduate School Creditable Course Offerings

The short courses offered by the Center are intensive 54-hr certificate programs of specific fields of study that are creditable to the MBA or Graduate
Program in Entrepreneurship.

  • Strategic Entrepreneurial Management (MBA 2018)
  • Strategic Entrepreneurial Finance (MBA 2028)
  • Strategic Entrepreneurial Operations (MBA 2038)
  • Strategic Entrepreneurial Marketing (MBA 2308)

These core courses aim to impart business concepts (in the field of management, marketing, finance and operations) to manage the development of and sustain
a private business enterprise. It is intended for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Strategic Enterprise Development (MBA 2528)

This course intends to guide the aspiring entrepreneurs in strategic start-up and/or expansion business planning.

Strategic Social Entrepreneurship (MBA 2518)

This course aims to impart entrepreneurial concepts to manage the development and sustainability of the citizen sector such as, business support organizations/associations/chambers, Nongovernment and not-for-profit organizations, government agencies, religious institutions.

* This Certificate is given to a student who has successfully completed five courses namely: MBA 2018, 2028, 2038, 2308, and one of either MBA 2518 or MBA 2528 within a five year period.

 

Seminars and Training

  • Training and seminars are provided for the enhancement of business and managerial skills to develop enterprises. Customized training programs are available upon request of private and public organizations.
  • Researches in collaboration with industry partners are developed as needed.
  • Capacity building seminars are offered for continuing development of competence of faculty in the College of Commerce.
  • Language courses are offered by the Center in response to the need of the business sector.
