Core Programs

The program is envisioned to develop the student’s analytical thinking skills and prepare him/her to be responsive to the current economic issues affecting business environment. The economics theories acquired through various academic exercises coupled with practicum/on-the-job training activities are expected to increase the number of experts in the field of Business Economics. Students in this program are expected to understand extensively the economic principles and theories, and develop their competencies and skills needed as economic analyst and entrepreneurs.

The program aims to prepare the students to posses a strong foundation on theory, principles, and concepts, as well as analytical tools and perspectives that would provide a sound and competitive basis for financial decision making. The program requires high levels of dynamism and commitment from the students. The students will work in depth in each course through proper balancing of finance theory and research literature with the practical aspects of financial management. It also aims to produce graduates for careers in financial department of general business, investment banking firms, broker-dealer firms, management consulting firms, various departments of commercial banks and other financial institutions, central banks and international financial institutions. There is an option for graduates of this program to take the Chartered Financial Analysts Level I international licensure examinations.

The program provides a specialist education in human resource management leading to a comprehensive understanding of its strategic and operational roles. It aims to prepare the graduates for a career in the field of Human Resource management in various corporations whether in manufacturing, marketing and service sectors, or in the different types of industries such as pharmaceutical, semi-conductor, food and beverage, banking industries and other types of organizations. The program is also intended to develop key skills in analysis, communication, leadership and decision-making as well as inter-personal skills and flexibility. The course will focus on the application of these skills not just in the traditional sectors of business and commerce, but also in micro, cottage small-to-medium-sized businesses and the not-for-profit sector. This degree is intended to be a sound foundation for various human resource/personnel specialist at administrative or managerial levels. An internship program in the senior year allows students to internalize the intricacies of managing human resources in an organization.

The program prepares the students for the acquisition of competencies and skills needed in manufacturing and service oriented businesses. It focuses on managing the processes to produce and distribute products and services. Major overall activities include product creation, development, production and distribution. It covers all operations within the organization and related activities including managing purchases, inventory control, quality control, storage, logistics and evaluation. A great deal of focus is on efficiency and effectiveness of processes. The program often includes substantial measurement and analysis of internal processes. Ultimately, the nature of how operations management is carried out in an organization depends very much on the nature of products or services in the organization.

This course is to prepare the students to be responsive to the total environment by providing technical skills and competencies in the areas of marketing. Theory is blended with practicum activities to give the students a broad and enriched base for career in marketing.
Innovative Programs

The Program aims to produce development managers who are people and beneficiary-oriented leaders with corporate and business skills. The graduates of this program will meet employment qualification requirements among various development organizations in government, non-government, and international organizations not only in the Philippine buts also within Asia and the Pacific, North and South America, Africa and elsewhere. Students will be equipped with business and corporate knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to lead and promote development-geared organizations and projects. Provide students with training and skills required to administer and manage development projects. Students will acquire deep understanding of the complex relationships between society, economy, environment, and development. Towards the end of the last two semesters, students are required to undergo internship or on-the-job training in NGOs, GO/POs.

This course is designed basically to develop the business acumen of young people who have well developed naturalist intelligence, loves nature and would want to work towards protecting and preserving the environment while being engaged in the business world. The program integrates into the basic business administration curriculum the principles of environmental management and science, environmental standards, law and policy, environmental economics and ethics, occupational safety and health, environmental impact, risk assessment and other environmental related courses. This program will develop in the youth a higher sense of stewardship towards Mother Nature. It transforms the student into the “managers” of the environment, who sees the greater panorama of the environment in relation to all the factors affecting it. It serves as an ideal preparatory training in environmental management to qualify for further postgraduate studies in environmental management.

This course is intended for administrative professionals who primarily support executives in offices worldwide and for a number of organizations. Students in this program are given ample exposures to administrative functions such as planning meetings and special events, work closely with vendors and suppliers, create and presenting reports, assists in the orientation of staff, write and edit documents, schedule events and facilities, coordinate direct mailings, maintain multiple schedules and calendars, handle messages and correspondence (with voice mail, e-mail, and regular postal mail), maintain computer files, directories, and databases, and more. Majors in this program are provided extensive training on Office and Information Management, the Use of Technology in improving productivity, Customer Service and Public Relations Skills.

This is a para-legal program designed not only to provide students with general principles of management and business policies but also create future managers or entrepreneurs with a working knowledge of the legal environment where all enterprises operates. Students in this program are required to undergo legal internship during the terminal term in selected Cebu-based law offices. This is to expose students to the legal practices, documentation and research, in the process building their knowledge and competence in the field of commercial law. Is an alternative academic program offering of the University, aside from the traditional offerings of B.A. Political Science and B.A. in Philosophy offered by CAS, and other 4-year undergraduate degrees offered by COC as preparatory course to law school. This approximates a paralegal academic program. It is also a good preparation for other postgraduate studies in management and public administration.

The program is designed for students who are keen on developing their technical skills and competencies in the areas of marketing and entrepreneurship. Majors must organize and start up a mini-corporation, fund it, go into actual market offering of a chosen product or service. A laboratory called Incubator Facility (IF) is provided to allow new product development research for the students. Provides students in their 4th year to undertake a 48-hour (i.e. /week in 3 months) internship or on-the-job training in Marketing at a qualified enterprise in Metro Cebu. Prepares and assist the future graduates in decision which occupational choice to pursue after graduation, namely: employment or self-employment. This is the only program where a grade point average of 2.5 or 80% is required to be maintained by the student as a retention policy for all major courses in marketing and entrepreneurship.

After completion of all academic requirements of the program, graduates can start and manage a business.
