NSTP Advisers’ Training Course. The College hosted two sessions of NSTP Advisers’ Training Seminar specially designed for faculty in the College who are interested to teach NSTP for the coming academic year. The first session was held last June 10, 2008 at the Conference Room of the newly renovated BA Office. The second was held last June 26 and 30 for eight (8) Accountancy faculty held at the Dean’s Conference Room. This activity was a realization of Father Mark’s desire to align all NSTP activities to the goals and direction of the College.

The keynote speaker for the first session was Father Heinz Kulueke, SVD, Provincial Superior of the SVD Southern Province. He talked on Man and Human Dignity: the Christian Dimension on Community Service and the SVD Spirituality. His first sentence immediately perked up the interest of the participants – faith with no action has no value. His narration of his encounter with the Junquera community and what the SVDs has done and is doing definitely aroused the enthusiasm of the participants for Community Service.
Our heartfelt thanks to Father Heinz who, despite the inconvenience of the brown out, continued on without fail to encourage the Commerce faculty to make a positive change in society.
Mrs. Cora Anzano. Ms. Emmylou Llorca and Mrs. Eleanor Paclijan gave an overview of the planned CES activities of the College for the academic year. These plans were fruits of the seminar on Social Entrepreneurship sponsored by the Ateneo School of Government which they all attended from April 22 – 24, 2008 in Manila. The objective of the seminar was to encourage participants to organize social entrepreneurship endeavors in their own locality. And the three definitely put the objective at heart!
Father Eleno Buscia, SVD, the newly appointed CES Executive Director of the University of San Carlos gave his wholehearted support to the planned activities of the College.
The Society of Young Business Executives and Entrepreneurs (SYBEE) led by its energetic President, Mr. Jude Coching and CES Committee Chair, Tarah Grandeza ably assisted the College in organizing the activity.
